Accessibility Statement
Last Updated: March 8, 2026
YesGov is committed to making our website and services accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. We are working to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.
Conformance Target
We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all public-facing pages, the open-data portal, the account area, and the admin workspace. We are actively working toward full conformance and prioritize accessibility in new development.
Accessibility Features
- Skip navigation link: A "Skip to main content" link is provided at the top of every page for keyboard and screen reader users.
- Semantic HTML: Pages use proper heading hierarchy (h1 through h4), landmarks, and ARIA labels for navigation, forms, and interactive elements.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, form controls, sidebar menus) are reachable and operable with a keyboard.
- Visible focus states: Focus indicators are visible on interactive elements when navigating with a keyboard.
- Color contrast: Our patriotic color palette (navy blue #002868 on white, red #BF0A30 on white) is designed to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios for normal and large text.
- Responsive design: All pages adapt to screen sizes from mobile to desktop without loss of content or functionality.
- Form labels: All form inputs have associated visible labels. Required fields are marked.
- Data tables: Open-data tables use proper header cells with
scopeattributes for screen reader comprehension. - Alternative text: Decorative icons use
aria-hidden="true". Informational images and logos have descriptive text equivalents.
Known Limitations
We are aware of the following areas where accessibility improvements are still in progress:
- Some legacy static content pages (security information articles) were authored before the current accessibility standards were adopted and may have inconsistent heading structures or contrast in inline-styled elements.
- The domain security checker progress display uses dynamically-inserted content that may not be fully announced by all screen readers in real-time. The final results page is accessible.
- Some data tables with many columns may require horizontal scrolling on smaller screens. We use overflow containers to preserve data access.
- PDF reports generated from the legacy system may not meet full PDF/UA accessibility standards.
Assistive Technology Testing
We test with the following assistive technologies and browsers:
- Screen readers: NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS
- Keyboard-only navigation in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge
- Browser zoom up to 200%
